Grandmaster KJN JoeCariati, 9th Dan


GM KJN Cariati started his martial art training in the early 70’s, with over 45 years of martial art training and experience, GM KJC Cariati is one of the most senior Ch’ang Hon Style Taekwondo practitioners in the world today.

Serving and working with the late Founder of Taekwondo, General Choi Hong Hi, in the last 15 years of his life, allowed GM KJN Cariati to learn the original Taekwondo technique in its most authentic form.  In between 1991 and 2002, he traveled with the late Founder as Personal Assistant throughout the North America, South America, and Europe, that marked the most valuable period in his life.  Living and working side-by-side with the Founder no doubt has equipped GM KJN Cariati with excellent knowledge in the original Taekwondo technique developed in that last period of the Founder’s life.  GM KJN Cariati is one of a handful non-Korean who has earned the privilege of being a direct disciple of the Founder.  This undoubtedly makes GM KJN Cariati a true heritage in the original martial art of Taekwondo.

After the Founder passed in 2002, GM KJC Cariati joined hand with a few other senior Taekwondo practitioners to preserve the Founder’s legacy by forming the International Ch’ang Hon Taekwon-Do Federation.  GM KJN Cariati was elected as the Executive Vice President in the Founding Congress in 2003, and was elected to be the President of ICTF four years later in 2007.   GM KJN J Cariati has been unanimously elected as the Chairman of ICTF under a perpetual term by the Executive Committees in 2017.

Today, GM KJC Cariati stands as a Ch’ang Hon Style Taekwondo Martial Art Icon.  His unselfish character drives him to impart the most authentic original Taekwondo techniques to the Taekwondo practitioners throughout the world in invitational seminars and events.  As a true Ch’ang Hon Style Taekwondo martial artist, GM KJN Cariati’s contribution to the betterment of original Taekwondo martial art is unmatched and beyond comparison.

Grandmaster Geoffrey Ong, 9th Dan


GM G Ong’s passion in martial arts was ignited during his childhood years in a small southern town in Malaysia.  GM G Ong started his martial arts training in Shorin-Ryu Karate in the early 70’s and later joined the famous Malaysian developed Budokan Karate in his higher rank in the mid 70’s.

In the late 70’s, GM G Ong came in contact with Taekwondo while pursuing his tertiary education in Canada and was later inspired by this Korean martial arts when he returned to Malaysia and took up Taekwondo training under GM Ally Teoh who was one of the earliest non-Korean Taekwondo practitioners when the late Founder of Taekwondo introduced Taekwondo to Malaysia in his first propagation campaign in 1959 through 1962.  GM G Ong also learned under GM KJN Cariati’s mentorship in the 2000’s to fine-tune technical aspects in the original Taekwondo martial art. 

GM G Ong’s scholastic aptitude drove him to study the Taekwondo martial arts in depth, which left him a lot to desire from in all aspects of its professionally developed techniques.  The fact that many movements of the original Taekwondo were developed at the physical lab of MIT fortified such desire to continue his Taekwondo training physically and academically for over 35 years unceasingly.  GM G Ong achieved the final milestone of his Taekwondo life when he was promoted to the rank of 9th Dan in 2017.

GM G Ong has a rich background in the business sector as an entrepreneur with over 30 years of business involvements in various fields internationally.  His academic credentials are valuable foundations as he takes up the Office as the Senior Administrative Vice President and Business Advisor cum Director in the Executive Committee of ICTF. 

GM G Ong is the key developer of the Business Portal concept in ICTF under the direct supervision of the Chairman cum President, GM KJN Cariati.

Master N. Doerksen VIII DAN


Master Doerksen is a VII Dan Master of Taekwon Do,  and has been involved with Taekwon Do and instructing for most of his life.  

Master Doerksen is also a school teacher (BA, Bed.).  He uses this knowledge and training to enhance all Taekwon do classes, offering a standard recognized curriculum to his students.

Master Esther Sucre (8th Dan)


Master Sucre began training in Taekwon-Do in Venezuela, her native country, at the age of 6 and has been a practitioner of Ch’ang Hon Style Taekwondo ever since.  While in Venezuela, Master Sucre competed in many National and International events, and was Venezuelan National Champion for 4 consecutive years.

After moving to Canada in 1992, Master Sucre continued training under Grandmaster Park Jong Soo and later went under the leadership of Grandmaster KJN Cariati, 9th Dan.  Master Sucre is an instructor and a member of the Technical Committee for the Woodbridge Taekwon-Do group.  She continues her Taekwondo life regionally, nationally and internationally.

Master Sucre was conferred the rank of 8th Dan in March’2018.

Ms. S. Lawson, IV Dan


Ms. Lawson was born in Trinidad and Tobago and later moved to Canada.  Ms. Lawson was always intrigued with martial arts and in 1996 this interest led her to begin training in Aikido, a Japanese martial art characterized by sweeping motions which integrates the mind and body in the development of self-confidence, peace of mind and physical skill.  Currently, Ms. Lawson is a nidan (2nd Dan) in Aikido and is an instructor at her dojo.  Later on, Ms. Lawson became interested in Taekwon-Do and began her training at Woodbridge Taekwon-Do school under Kwan Jang Nim Cariati  IX Dan, where she is now a 3rd Dan.  She is an Instructor for Woodbridge Taekwon-Do and actively competes in tournaments locally, nationally and internationally.



Master V. Rocca, 7th Dan

Vivian began her training with Master Cariati in the 1980s and has been active with the Woodbridge Taekwon-Do group ever since. She started teaching at the advancement of her first Dan and has enjoyed promoting the art of Taekwon-Do to numerous students throughout her many years in the field.


Vivian has advanced through many different job positions in her nearly 20 year career at Bruno's Fine Foods. Her current expertise in the Accounts Payable department is a definite asset to her role in our organization.

Grandmaster D. Simard  IX Dan

GM Simard began training in martial arts at the age of five. He has had a long and successful career with many accomplishments including:

  • "World Champion" (Athens Greece 1987)

  • "World Champion" (Barcelona Spain 2003)

  • 8 times Canadian Champion

  • 2 times Pan-American Champion

He retired Undefeated North-American Champion in five weight divisions
His hobbies include playing guitar & harmonica and mountain biking. He trains and still races on the World Mountain Bike series.

Master W. Henry  VIII Dan


Mr. Henry's martial arts career began with Kung-Fu in 1985. After moving to Canada in 1991, he started Taekwon-Do at one of the first community centres run by the Woodbridge Taekwon-Do Group. He has taught for over 14 years at various community schools throughout the city of Toronto. In 2000 he started Swar Taekwon-Do in Caledon, east Ontario. Among his most memorable memories in Taekwon-Do are meeting and performing for General Choi Hon Hi on several occasions.


Mr. Henry is a multi-medal winner in Ontario local tournaments including:

  • Silver medal in Sparring bronze medal in pattern 1995 Ontario    championship

  • 97 Canadian sparring champion

  • Silver medalist in IBBC championship, in 2000

  • 2003 Ontario championship in Woodstock gold medal winner in pattern and sparring

  • Taekwon-do 50th anniversary champion 4th to 6th Dan sparring and pattern 2004

  • Chi Taekwon-Do tournament in Florida gold medal winner in pattern and sparring 4th to 6th Dan

Mr. Henry is currently a technical advisor and the sparring chairman for the Woodbridge Taekwon-do Group.


Wellness Committee Chairman

Master R. MacEachern  VIII Dan


Ryan MacEachern began his journey in Taekwon-Do in 1983 under the Instruction of Master Yeong Chol Rhee (ITF), Mr.Philip Hollohan (independent), and furthered his education under Master Joseph Cariati VIII Dan (ITF, ICTF).


He has competed in WTF, ITF and open TKD tournaments, and has been a member of Woodbridge Taekwon Do since 1998. He is part of the Membership and Wellness committee for the Woodbridge Taekwon-do Group. Ryan began Tecumseh Taekwon Do in 1998 and is a Supervising Instructor for the Southwestern Ontario Section Of Woodbridge Taekwon Do Group.

He currently works as a Exercise Therapist at Advanced Rehabilitation Centre in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. His training philosophy is to combine Taekwon-do, anatomy and physiology, kinesiology, core stability, and therapeutic exercises. He also wishes to promote the importance of moral culture, physical fitness, and a strong united group to make a better positive world.

Master Daniel ST Ong (8th Dan)


Master Daniel Ong is a senior Taekwondo practitioner who started his training in the late 70’s.  Before he and his group founded Kelab Taekwondo Union (KTU) in Malaysia, Master Daniel Ong was with ITF for over 30 years without deviating from it, an undisputable loyal practitioner of high moral standard in the martial art arena. Master Daniel Ong’s seniority was finally recognized by an international ITF group and earned his overdue 7th Dan promotion a few years ago which was later certified by ICTF. 


Over the last couple of years since he joined ICTF, Master Daniel Ong has upkept his membership status at an unmatched level, he has set a fine example of what a good member should be in image and actual reality.  Together with a few others, Master Daniel Ong has attended in the Master Instructor Course (MIC) in 2017 via ICTF’s state-of-the-art webinar program set forth for distant learning purposes. 


Master Ong was conferred the rank of 8th Dan in Jan’ 2018.
